Participants will explore the causes of stream degradation\, learn how to assess whether a stream is a good candidate for restoration\, and examine common challenges and proven solutions. Topics include legacy sediment\, dam removal\, floodplain reconnection to improve water quality and aquatic habitat\, and the role of large woody materials in stream valley ecosystems. The series also addresses planning\, permitting\, maintenance\, and effective streambank stabilization in challenging locations such as road crossings\, farm lanes\, and pastures.
