SUMMARY:Invasive Plants Management: An Overview for Landscape Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Registration is Open! \nThis workshop is developed by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Habitat Partners\, and is designed for certified CBLPs and other landscape professionals. \nInvasive plant species are highly detrimental to natural plant communities\, and their presence must be taken into consideration when designing a space for a client.  In this workshop we’ll describe invasive plant species that are most problematic; explain various methods for controlling them; show site characteristics that encourage the growth of invasives; and demonstrate the thought-process needed to troubleshoot invasive species in a case study area.  The training includes indoor instruction\, an outdoor field activity in small work-groups\, and a short design exercise that will be used to provide basic recommendations to the property owners. \nEarly registration is $75.  After September 13\, registration is $95. Lunch is included. \nCBLP CEUs will be available.

SUMMARY:Stormwater Landscapes: Using Native Plant Communities for Design
DESCRIPTION:This workshop focuses on designing storm water landscapes modeled on native plant communities\, and using an ecological assessment process. Understand how design choices can support greater habitat value for wildlife and biodiversity through the use of appropriately selected native plants. Participants will receive instruction in the classroom and also on a field trip to visit and analyze several storm water landscapes and a native plant reference community. \nLOCATION: Albemarle County Office Building\, Charlottesville VA. \nINSTRUCTORS: David Hirschman of Hirschman Water and Environment LLC\, Devin Floyd\, Center for Urban Habitats. \nThis workshop is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) Habitat Partners© Program. DGIF is an organizational member of CCLC and a Consortium Partner of CBLP. \nEarly registration- $85 by August 20. Regular registration- $100. \nThis workshop is full and registration has closed.  However\, if you would like to be placed on a waiting list for possible cancellations\, please email beth@cblpro.org \n6 CBLP CEUs will be available.
