SUMMARY:Leaping to Solutions Climate Change Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is a topic of daily conversation these days. Scientists have well-documented evidence that human activity\, starting with the dawn of the industrial revolution\, is the driving force behind these changes. During our November 2018 symposium\, we touched on the topic of climate change and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees genuinely appreciated the chance to hear the facts and gain a better understanding of climate change basics.\nBased on that feedback\, we’re focusing this symposium solely on climate change. Come join us on Leap Day\, Saturday\, February 29\, 2020 to expand on the basics and have the chance to hear from local officials on how cities in the Tidewater area are preparing to mitigate the challenges associated with sea level rise.  \nAs an added bonus that day\, Elizabeth River Project will host their 2nd Annual Youth Resilience Expo. See how students in grades K-12 envision solutions to address flooding\, promote resilience actions and reduce their carbon footprint at their schools. Send your crew or favorite contractor! \nChesapeake Bay Landscape Professional Program –\n​Sustainable Stormwater BMP Management Certificate Training \nThis one-day certificate course is designed to introduce landscape and stormwater maintenance crews\, crew managers\, and advanced crew managers to Chesapeake Bay protection\, conservation landscaping\, and stormwater best management practices through classroom and field activities in a way that is relevant to the participants’ work experience as part of a maintenance crew.  Attendees will earn a certificate of completion and are eligible for discounted registration fees for Level 1 CBLP certification as well as many CEUs provided through MAHSC.
