SUMMARY:Ecosystem Modeling: Using Natural Plant Communities as Models for Landscape Design
DESCRIPTION:This class covers site assessments\, research\, and the creation of species lists and installation plans for native assemblages of plants. Understand how design choices can support greater habitat value for wildlife and biodiversity through the use of appropriately selected native plants. Workshop includes on-site walk to visit natural reference habitats and native plant installations. Participants will also work in small groups on conceptual practices. \nLOCATION: Quarry Gardens in Schuyler\, VA (Nelson County). \nINSTRUCTORS: Devin Floyd\, Center for Urban Habitats\, David Hirschman of Hirschman Water and Environment LLC. \nThis workshop is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) Habitat Partners© Program. DGIF is an organizational member of the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council (CCLC) and a Consortium Partner of CBLP. \nEarly registration- $85 by June 25.
