2022 VOLUNTEER TREE PLANTING RELAY

24-HOUR VOLUNTEER TREE PLANTING RELAY A.K.A. TREELAY

Every year, the Alliance engages communities, companies, and conservationists to plant thousands of trees in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. We’ve been looking for a big, bold way to celebrate the fantastic tree planting efforts of our volunteers. Hence, The 24-Hour Volunteer Tree Planting Relay also known as Treelay for short. Treelay is a series of volunteer tree plantings scheduled back-to-back over a 24-hour period (hence the relay).

The Alliance’s 2022 Treelay is in its inaugural year, and we plan to kick things off with a bang! We will have nearly 10 plantings throughout the watershed: 6 plantings around the clock in Pennsylvania, and one planting each hosted by our teams in Maryland and Washington, DC.

PENNSYLVANIA

• 6 PM to 10 PM October 28th – Lancaster County, PA – 400 trees to plant (25 volunteer spots available)
• 10 PM October 28th to 2 AM October 29th – York County, PA – 300 trees to plant (20 volunteer spots available)
• 2 AM to 6 AM October 29th – Lancaster County, PA – 185 trees to plant (25 volunteer spots available)
• 6 AM to 10 AM October 29th – Lancaster County, PA – 495 trees to plant (35 volunteer spots available)
• 10 AM to 2 PM October 29th – Cumberland County, PA – 1,375 trees to plant (100 volunteer spots available)
• 2 PM to 6 PM October 29th – Adams County, PA – 1,560 trees to plant (100 volunteer spots available)

MARYLAND SITES

• 8 AM to 12 PM October 29th – Carroll County, MD – 600 trees to plant (30 volunteers spots available)

WASHINGTON, DC SITES

• 12 PM to 2 PM October 29th – Washington, DC – 10 trees to plant (10 volunteer spots available)
