Intro to Stormwater Management

Prince George’s Community College has partnered with the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment to offer a 3-session noncredit course that introduces the best management practices (BMPs) used for the County’s Rain Check Rebate Program.
This introductory-level course is ideal for individuals, business owners, and community leaders who want to learn strategies for addressing environmental impacts to their properties and communities and landscape design and construction professionals who want to learn more about low impact design and conservation landscaping.
Participants will learn:
- How low impact development (LID) practices such as rain gardens, permeable pavers, cisterns, rain barrels, pavement removal, green roofs, and tree canopy are being used in Prince George’s County to meet water quality requirements
- How these small-scale retrofit practices quality for the County’s Rain Check Rebate program;
- How the practices can be used to beautify properties and communities
- Design, construction and maintenance considerations
