We will hear from Ann Jurczyk, Director VA Outreach and Advocacy, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Amy Wentz, Co-founder, Southside ReLeaf

Heat island data collected by volunteers during the summer of 2016 kick-started implementation efforts to reduce the amount of heat-absorbing asphalt and increase the amount of cooling tree canopy in Southside Richmond. CBF and Southside ReLeaf have joined forces to involve and engage neighborhoods in formerly redlined, currently under-resourced communities to build understanding of and support for green infrastructure projects. Together we’re planting and giving away over 650 trees to start to reverse the tree inequities in Southside RVA.
