Rain Garden Workshops in Baltimore Area – Hands On Volunteer Opportunity
June 9, 2018 @ 8:00 am - June 30, 2018 @ 5:00 pm
FreeThe Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, a Baltimore County-based land preservation and watershed restoration non-profit, is hosting several Rain Garden workshops in June. We’re looking for volunteers to help create rain gardens at private residences in the Baltimore area. No gardening experience required!
Got flooding in your backyard? This is the perfect time to learn more about the benefits of incorporating a rain garden into your landscape. Our landscape designers will give a presentation followed by a hands-on gardening opportunity.
Register online for our June 9th, June 23rd, or June 30th rain garden workshops. For more info, contact Amy Young, Clear Creeks Project Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator, at ayoung@gunpowdervc.org or (410) 404-4748.
These workshops are part of the Clear Creeks Project. Coordinated by the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, the Clear Creeks Project is a grant-funded, citizen-based initiative that helps answer a community desire to restore the water quality of the Bird River, Lower Gunpowder Falls, Middle River, and Tidal Gunpowder watersheds. Additional funding provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation; Chesapeake Bay Trust; Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability; Baltimore Gas and Electric; and Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, administered by Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
