Level 1
Level 1 Registration
Registration for the winter 2025 Level 1 session is now open!
Participants choose hybrid or in-person learning. If you choose hybrid, you will attend the classroom session online on two half-days and you must also complete a one-day field practicum. If you choose in-person, you will select one of the 2-day locations.
In-Person Options, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM:
February 11-12 – Chevy Chase, MD (snow dates: February 26-27)
February 20-21 – Lower Allen Township, PA (snow dates: March 4-5)
February 27-28 -Norfolk, VA (snow dates: March 3-4)
March 6-7 – Centreville, VA (snow dates: March 18-19)
Hybrid Option (two online sessions plus one field practicum)
Online Session: January 28 & 30, 2025, 9:00 AM – 12:15 PM, via Zoom

Level 1 is our baseline credential that covers design, installation, and management of sustainable landscapes and green infrastructure. Each class, led by regional experts, incorporates classroom work with a field-based practicum and BMP inspection/verification training. CBLP emphasizes critical thinking, interactive learning, and collaborative practice.
Registration is a 2-step process. Before signing up for a class, you must submit an online application. Once the application is approved, you will receive an auto-reply email. Then, you may return to the website to pay and choose your dates.
The Level 1 fee is $475 and includes all training sessions, course materials and videos, and an examination fee. You must attend all required sessions to sit for the exam.
Scholarships & Discounts

Discounts are available for companies or organizations sending three or more employees to Level 1. Current scholarships include: 1) ShoreRivers has generous full scholarships for landscape professionals serving the Eastern Shore of Maryland. 2) Pennsylvania DCNR will provide funding for landscape professionals working in PA. 3) Wetlands Watch will provide partial scholarships to eligible participants located in southwest Virginia 4) Scholarships are available from the CCLC Scotty Scholars fund. CEUs Are Available From: American Society of Landscape Architects (LA CES), Association of Professional Landscape Designers, Delaware Nursery and Landscape Association, Delaware Urban Nutrient Managers, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Maryland Nursery Landscape and Greenhouse Association, Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association, Virginia Nursery and Landscape Association, Virginia Society of Landscape Designers, Virginia DEQ Stormwater Inspectors and Planners.
If you are a student in HORT 127 at CCBC or ACH 113 at AACC, please register with this form.
Level 1 Exam Dates
The Level 1 exam is now offered online. Candidates may take the exam online after completing training. The cost of the exam is included in the course registration fee. Testing accommodations are available; please inquire.
Level 2
Level 2 is an advanced credential in design or installation of stormwater BMPs. You must be a CBLP Level 1-certified professional to enroll in the 3-day Level 2 Intensive Seminar. If you are a highly-experienced professional, you may be eligible for a Level 1 waiver.
The fee is $580 for one credential or $630 for both.
Typically, Level 2 is held twice each year. The next Level 2 Intensive Seminar will be held online March 20, 21 & 27 with an in-person field day on March 22 in the DC area.

WIGI
The Watershed Institute Green Infrastructure certification (WIGI) is a collaboration with The Watershed Institute that brings an adapted version of the Level 1 training to professionals in New Jersey who design, install and maintain stormwater best management practices (BMPs) and conservation landscapes. The purpose of the Scotty Guinn Dilworth Scholarship fund is to pay forward Scotty’s legacy as a conservation landscape designer, career-changer and small business owner to the next generations.
